When dealing with larger, high-resolution files, you may think that capacity is your first concern. However, the speed of a memory card plays a huge part when filming 4K video, taking large print-quality photos, and taking rapid burst shots. This type of photography may require a higher write or read speed in order to process data quickly. When looking at memory cards, it’s important to delineate write speed and read speed and make sure you get what works best for each.
NOTE: As other buyers state, this item say’s Wii memory card on the packaging it comes in. This memory card is actually for a system called Nintendo GameCube. It does work on the Wii but only to save Nintendo Gamecube Games. If you’re looking for a Wii memory card for Wii games, that would an SD card you’re looking for.
Windows Phone 8 devices use SD cards designed for access only by the phone manufacturer or mobile provider. I’m sure you could still find a new GameCube at your local electronics or gaming store. Try EBgames, GameStop, or even a BestBuy. New ones should run you $99 or less, but a used one could be as cheap as $50. If you have the money though, you might want to just invest in a Wii since it’s backwards compatible anyways.
As the feature size of flash memory cells reaches the 15-16 nm minimum limit, further flash density increases will be driven by TLC (3 bits/cell) combined with vertical stacking of NAND memory planes. The decrease in endurance and increase in uncorrectable bit error rates that accompany feature size shrinking can be compensated by improved error correction mechanisms. Even with these advances, it may be impossible to economically scale flash to smaller and smaller dimensions as the number of electron holding capacity reduces. UHS speed class is designed for SDHC and SDXC memory cards. These cards are a higher speed and utilize a different data bus that doesn’t work in non-UHS compatible devices. You’ll want one of these cards for Full HD recording and for taking continuous high-resolution photos, like burst shot mode used for sports photography. A higher speed UHS card, like a U3 can be used for recording video in 4K.
This card arrived quickly (Fulfillment by Amazon, sold by SanDisk + Prime Membership)! I ordered two of them, because ordering individual cards was a little less expensive than ordering them in pairs or quads (go figure???).
With the increasing speed of modern CPUs, parallel flash devices are often much slower than the memory bus of the computer they are connected to. Conversely, modern SRAM offers access times below 10 ns, while DDR2 SDRAM offers access times below 20 ns. Because of this, it is often desirable to shadow code stored in flash into RAM; that is, the code is copied from flash into RAM before execution, so that the CPU may access it at full speed. Device firmware may be stored in a serial flash device, and then copied into SDRAM or SRAM when the device is powered-up. Using an external serial flash device rather than on-chip flash removes the need for significant process compromise (a process that is good for high-speed logic is generally not good for flash and vice versa). Once it is decided to read the firmware in as one big block it is common to add compression to allow a smaller flash chip to be used. Typical applications for serial flash include storing firmware for hard drives, Ethernet controllers, DSL modems, wireless network devices, etc.

The WEme card reader offers SD and CF support, but it’s actually a USB-A reader that ships with a USB-C-to-A adapter. We think you’re better off using our best USB-A reader with our best USB-C–to–A adapter.
I got the same e-mail. I think it’s safe to say that they’re still producing the system, because they did say they don’t have any immediate plans to discontinue sales and distribution of the system. In other words, they have no plans right now to make the GC one of their non-current (no longer available in stores/getting anything new) systems like their 3 consoles that came before it.
