Many older video game consoles used memory cards to hold saved game data. Cartridge-based systems primarily used battery-backed volatile RAM within each individual cartridge to hold saves for that game. Cartridges without this RAM may have used a password system, or wouldn’t save progress at all. The Neo Geo AES, released in 1990 by SNK, was the first video game console able to use a memory card. Neither the Kanex USB-C Card Reader nor the Plugable USB Type-C Flash Memory Card Reader supports CF cards. Both of them are larger and more expensive than the Cable Matters model we recommend, lack indicator lights, and have an extra Memory Stick slot that most people don’t need.
The SD Standard allows usage of only the above-mentioned Microsoft FAT file systems and any card produced in the market shall be preloaded with the related standard file system upon its delivery to the market. If any application or user re-formats the card with a non-standard file system the proper operation of the card, including interoperability, cannot be assured.
Same here, Dell Vostro…a couple of days ago I got an major update of the windows 10, not eaven asking for , took 1/2 day to update it and now my SD reader is not working and is not showing in Device Management,

Like its predecessor, the Nintendo 64, GameCube models were produced in several different color motifs. CompactFlash (CF) cards offer very high storage capacities and fast processing times. When reformatting an SD card with a capacity of at least 32 MB (65536 logical sectors or more), but not more than 2 GB, FAT16B with partition type 06h and EBPB 4.1[103] is recommended if the card is for a consumer device. (FAT16B is also an option for 4 GB cards, but it requires the use of 64 kiB clusters, which are not widely supported.) FAT16B does not support cards above 4 GB at all.

Read speed determines how fast data can be retrieved from the card. A faster read speed means you can more quickly transfer data from the card onto a computer or printer. Faster read speeds decrease your wait time so you can edit, save and share faster. For example, if you were shooting weddings, or doing work where you’d have to download a large amount of large raw image files to the computer, you’d want a higher read speed. However, read speed is really more of a convenience, whereas your primary focus should be write speed when you’re looking for a memory card.

The write speed describes how fast images can be saved onto a card, which is important when shooting bursts of images in continuous shooting mode, HD video or when using high resolution cameras that shoot particularly large files.

An essential for any GameCube owner. Excellent price, decent build (hard plastic, but it feels sturdy). 64 MB is plenty of storage (excessive, really), but it ensures that lack of memory will never be a problem you have to face.
Generally, if you want to shoot HD video or if you plan on taking a lot of high-resolution photos in quick succession (or use a digital SLR’s RAW image file format), buy a Class 10 card. If you’re planning to just take snapshots or occasionally show videos, Class 4 or Class 6 will do. Since even smartphones can record HD video these days, Class 2 cards aren’t the best choice. They’re simply too slow to record HD video, so you’re limiting your device’s features. The price difference between Class 4, Class 6, and Class 10 cards can vary, but not vastly. At the time of this writing, on Newegg.com, 32GB SDHC cards made by Kingston Technology were available in Class 4 for $54, Class 6 for $66, and $73 for Class 10. UHS-1 cards are much, much more expensive than the other cards; Kingston was offering a 32 GB UHS-1 SD card for $293, and that was on sale. Unless you’re a professional who needs absolute certainty in speed when dealing with very large images or high-bitrate video, you don’t need UHS-1. In fact, unless you have professional or semi-professional equipment, you probably won’t even be able to use these cards. Always check your device’s documentation for support information before you commit to a memory card.
In most cases, once the Micro SD Card is inserted in your phone, your phone automatically starts scanning the card, pulls out all the information MicroSD Card  needs, and immediately stores information in the appropriate location. So that Micro SD Card will start working directly.
If you are interested in an SD card for a DSLR, look at something like the Lexar Professional 600x 32GB SDHC UHS-I Flash Memory Card LSD32GCRBNA600. Since switching to the C10/U1 Lexar, I’ve been infinitely more happy with my camera. The Sandisk C4 32GB remains in my point and shoot, where it’s better suited.
Cards often have a multiplication factor written on them which usually represents read speed (such as 133x, 200x, 300x, etc). This is called the ‘Commercial x rating’ with 1x being equivalent to the speed of the original CD-ROM of 150 KB/sec. This makes it easy to convert between the two by multiplying or dividing by 150. So, 200x will equate to 1 seconds to read a 29.5MB image file (200 x 150 = 30,000/1016 = 29.528).
However, when I look at “This PC” (I am on Windows 10) via File Explorer, I still cannot see anything that looks like an SD drive listed…. I’m back to square one. All I want to do is format an SD card (and a Micro SD card via an adapter) via the slot in the Notebook- but it seems not to be possible….

Speed Class supported host can indicate Speed Class symbol somewhere on the product, package or manual. Consumers can find the best card for a host via Speed Class symbol match; choose the same or higher class symbol card than class symbol of the host indicated.
