I was able to fix the issue by uninstalling the SD card reader, restarting my computer, and then running the device troubleshooter with the SD card placed in the card reader slot.     NOTE: As other buyers state, this item say’s Wii memory card on the packaging it comes in. This memory card is actually for a system called Nintendo GameCube. It does work on the Wii but only to save Nintendo Gamecube Games. If you’re looking for a Wii memory card for Wii games, that would an SD card you’re looking for.
    Like the Unitek, the Iogear was fast and gave us the speeds we expected from each card. It had read and write speeds of 93 MB/s and 87 MB/s, respectively, during our SD card test, and read and write speeds of 93 MB/s and 73 MB/s during our microSD card test.     CompactFlash (CF) cards offer very high storage capacities and fast processing times. They were first introduced by Sandisk in 1994 and were widely used, but now they are usually only found in the most advanced DSLRs. Last year Canon chose CompactFlash as the recording media for use in its new lineup of professional high definiton (HD) video cameras.
    A host device can ask any inserted SD card for its 128-bit identification string (the Card-Specific Data or CSD). In standard-capacity cards (SDSC), 12 bits identify the number of memory clusters (ranging from 1 to 4,096) and 3 bits identify the number of blocks per cluster (which decode to 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, or 512 blocks per cluster). The host device multiplies these figures (as shown in the following section) with the number of bytes per block to determine the card’s capacity in bytes.[citation needed]

    There are two major SPI flash types. The first type is characterized by small pages and one or more internal SRAM page buffers allowing a complete page to be read to the buffer, partially modified, and then written back (for example, the Atmel AT45 DataFlash or the Micron Technology Page Erase NOR Flash). The second type has larger sectors. The smallest sectors typically found in an SPI flash are 4 kB, but they can be as large as 64 kB. Since the SPI flash lacks an internal SRAM buffer, the complete page must be read out and modified before being written back, making it slow to manage. SPI flash is cheaper than DataFlash and is therefore a good choice when the application is code shadowing.
    The higher speed rates are achieved by using a two-lane low voltage (0.4 V pp) differential interface. Each lane is capable of transferring up to 156 MB/s. In full duplex mode, one lane is used for Transmit while the other is used for Receive. In half duplex mode both lanes are used for the same direction of data transfer allowing a double data rate at the same clock speed. In addition to enabling higher data rates, the UHS-II interface allows for lower interface power consumption, lower I/O voltage and lower electromagnetic interference (EMI).
    In addition, speed may vary markedly between writing a large amount of data to a single file (sequential access, as when a digital camera records large photographs or videos) and writing a large number of small files (a random-access use common in smartphones). A study in 2012 found that, in this random-access use, some Class 2 cards achieved a write speed of 1.38 MB/s, while all cards tested of Class 6 or greater (and some of lower Classes; lower Class does not necessarily mean better small-file performance), including those from major manufacturers, were over 100 times slower.[35] In 2014, a blogger measured a 300-fold performance difference on small writes; this time, the best card in this category was a class 4 card.[36]
    2) I put it in the camera, and the Nikon D40 immediately formatted the card and it was ready for use. The information screen said that it was ready to hold 2.2K (2200) pictures. I held down the shutter in continuous mode, and fired off about 20 seconds of pictures (the D40 shoots somewhere around 3 or 3.3 pics per second in burst mode). There was no stutter, lag, etc. when writing to the card. This SDHC card (remember different format than SD, which was the format available when I bought the camera) worked flawlessly in this little test. Class 2 is suitable for standard-definition video recording, while Class 4 and Class 6 can record high-definition video. The various card classes seem to have different speed ranges according to different memory manufacturers. According to Sandisk, for example, Class 4 cards offer read and write speeds of 15 megabytes per second (MBps), Class 6 cards can handle 20MBps, and Class 10 cards reach 30MBps. Kingston, on the other hand, describes its Class 4 cards as delivering a 4MBps data transfer rate, Class 6 as having 15MBps write speed, and Class 10 offering a 40MBps data transfer rate. According to Sandisk, UHS-1 SD cards can transfer up to 45MBps, and according to the SD Association, the maximum transfer speed based on the interface bus used is 310MBps (though this limit won’t be reached by cards for a long time, likely after several faster UHS speed classes are defined).

    We were really surprised with this little USB SD/Micro SD/MMC reader. The design is reminiscent of older USB flash sticks and as such may be a little awkward when used on a laptop machine in one’s lap.     After researching nearly 50 USB-C SD readers, we tested 12 models that met our requirements in December 2016 and three new models in July 2017. We also looked for models with promising user reviews, although the category is so new that many of the ones we tested don’t have any yet. Then we plugged them into a MacBook Pro (13-inch, late 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports) and a 2016 Dell XPS 13 (we used a 2017 Dell XPS 15 for our most recent tests) and used AJA System Test and CrystalDiskMark to test their speeds with a SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II SD card, a SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II microSD card, and a SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash Card. The test results presented here are from our tests on a Windows laptop; our Mac tests were identical, except where noted.
    Video speed classes are added to the faster SD card arsenal. For example, a UHS speed class of 3 is a V30 video speed class. Most often shown starting with the 90MB/sec and 60MB/sec cards, they allow additional features to make writing more even and assure consistent performance. These speed classes are a perfect way to understand cards for the latest video capabilities such as 8K video, 3D recording, video streaming and more.
    We thought about the developers as our main customers. In particular for GameCube, we spent three years working with Nintendo of America and with all sorts of developers, trying to understand the challenges, needs, and problems they face. First among these is the rising cost of development. The GameCube can see high performance without too much trouble; it isn’t a quirky design, but a very clean one. It was important we didn’t require jumping through hoops for high performance to be achieved.     Bought this for me and my wife shortly after we bought a GameCube (to relive our childhood) a little less than 2 years ago. So far it has worked flawlessly with all games played, and is not even close to filling up. Item received was slightly different in shape than the picture advertised, but that is purely aesthetic.

    The Video Speed Classes defined by the SD Association are V6, 10,30,60 and 90. V6 and V10 can be applied to High Speed and UHS Bus IF product family. V30 can be applied to UHS Bus IF product family. V60 and V90 can be applied to UHS-II / UHS-III product family.

    Hope in the future that Amazon punishes vendors who ship inferior, counterfeit, or products different than described or pictured. Right now, the only way I see to determine if this might be the case is to S L O W L Y read the 1 and 2 Star reviews for a product. Four or maybe even two years ago, you could comfortably make a purchase based on 4-Stars or above. No more – especially on these commodity products where confusion exists regarding product specifications.     In 2012, the CompactFlash Association announced the CFast 2.0 Standard, promising read and write speeds of more than double what was then the current standard. In September 2013, SanDisk released the first CFast 2.0 card, billed as the world’s fastest memory card, promising read speeds of up to 450MB/s and write speeds of up to 350MB/s.
    SDXC cards are allowed to use all 22 bits of the C_SIZE field. An SDHC card that did so (reported C_SIZE > 65375 to indicate a capacity of over 32 GB) would violate the specification. A host device that relied on C_SIZE rather than the specification to determine the card’s maximum capacity might support such a card, but the card might fail in other SDHC-compatible host devices.
