I think it’s pretty cool you can use standard SD and Micro SD in it, but I opted to use my 16GB Micro SDHC from my old phone because standard SD sticks WAY out (be sure to insert the Micro SD upside down). Same here, Dell Vostro…a couple of days ago I got an major update of the windows 10, not eaven asking for , took 1/2 day to update it and now my SD reader is not working and is not showing in Device Management,

Interesting that you mention it’s not compatible with Windows 10. I’m looking for a new SD/CF card reader because my Lexar reader (the one previously recommended here) keeps connecting and disconnecting from my new Windows 10 desktop. Fortunately, it doesn’t do that when reading a card. Your post makes me wonder if Lexar readers have an issue with Win 10.
A final thing to think about is class rating. These numbers from 1 to 10 describe how fast data can be written to the card. Again, if your camera produces large image files or you shoot in RAW format, you’ll need a faster class 10 card to keep up, especially if you like to snap pictures in rapid succession. If you like to shoot Full HD video, you’ll also need one of the faster SD cards.
What’s even scarier – the dead device becomes very hot when plugged in! To me, this indicates that the reader was NOT designed for becoming hot, and became damaged from the heat. Furthermore, it means that the power circuitry is faulty – why would a non-working device draw that much power to become painfully hot? Because of these problems, it becomes very dangerous to plug into a computer. Most modern computers come with current protection to prevent anything bad from happening due to faulty devices, but I wouldn’t take that chance.

A memory card, flash card or memory cartridge is an electronic flash memory data storage device used for storing digital information. These are commonly used in portable electronic devices, such as digital cameras, mobile phones, laptop computers, tablets, PDAs, portable media players, video game consoles, synthesizers, electronic keyboards, and digital pianos.
When you insert a memory card, it is automatically mounted (connected to the device) and prepared for use. However, should you unmount the card without removing it from the device, you will need to mount it before it can be accessed.
For example, if your host device requires a Speed Class 4 SD memory card, you can use Speed Class 4, 6 or 10 SD memory cards. If your host device requires a UHS Speed Class 1 SD memory card, you can use UHS Speed Class 1 or 3 SD memory cards. Video Speed Class is also the same. Note that expected write speed will not be available by a combination of different class symbols such as Class 10, U1 and V10 even those are indicated to the same 10MB/sec write speed.

Most flash ICs come in ball grid array (BGA) packages, and even the ones that do not are often mounted on a PCB next to other BGA packages. After PCB Assembly, boards with BGA packages are often X-rayed to see if the balls are making proper connections to the proper pad, or if the BGA needs rework. These X-rays can erase programmed bits in a flash chip (convert programmed “0” bits into erased “1” bits). Erased bits (“1” bits) are not affected by X-rays.[33][34]

My experience with this 64MB Memory Card is with a Wii used to play GameCube games. There are lots of good reviews but when I used the card, the GameCube did not recognize the card at all. After reading the 3/2/1 star reviews, I saw that: (1) The card seems to perform much better with an actual GameCube (2) People were able to get the card working with the Wii by wiggling it around (not really a good sign) (3) People have had corruption issues with the card – usually with the Wii. After searching around, I found that even Nintendo larger capacity cards have this problem with the Wii. The recommendation is to use the low capacity Nintendo cards which are priced fairly low. After all of that, I tried this 64MB card again and it is working – which is why I am giving 3 stars. I also ordered the Nintendo lower capacity card and will switch over to it when it arrives (for reliability).
